Instead

I sit and stare at my screen
With no thoughts in my mind
Knowing I should clean
Instead, just unwind

No blogs lately
Just not in the mood
Wanting to greatly
Instead, just brood

This poem makes no sense
It's probably a crime
I could build a fence
Instead, just rhyme

A quiet night at home
To unwind and relax
Could get up and roam
Instead, just play jacks

I know I disappoint
This is crappy, I agree
It has no point
Happy 100th post to me

Where's Dave??

That just doesn't sound as good as "Where's Waldo". Anyway, Dave. I kept voting for you for quite a while, because others were voting for Jeremy while you had midterms and Amanda was sick. But now you're obviously just not trying. So I quit voting. I'm not voting for Jeremy either. I just quit bothering with either of you. So yeah...start blogging again and I might think about voting for you again.

I don't have a good title

So, I will accept two answers for that last question:

All Terrain Armored Transport
OR
All Terrain Armoured Transport

It's probably the first, as George Lucas is American, but since we are all Canadian, I will also accept the spelling with the u.

I think the whole "comment moderation" thing worked out well in terms of answers being shown. As some people found out, if you make comments on any of my posts while I have comment moderation turned on, they won't show up. But I try and publish those as soon as I see them. So yeah, it seemed to go smoothly.

So, not too much going on. Only two weeks until finals start. I write 3 finals in 36 hours on the first 2 days of exams. I'm not sure if I mentioned that. Probably I did, cause I'm pretty pissed about it! The nice thing is, in a month, this will all be behind me. The shitty thing is, I still have a bunch of group projects to finish before then. Oh well..

Oh, I don't think I mentioned this yet...I became a member of the SaskParty. Yup, got a phone call and bought a membership. I've been meaning to, just never got around to it. This forced me to get around to it. So yeah...GO SASKPARTY!!!

Who's the Most Jedi? Part 3

OK, so I'm trying something new this time. I have put "Comment Moderation" on. From what I understand, your comments won't appear until I approve them. This way, you guys can't see each others answers. I hope this works!!!

What does AT-AT mean?

Crackers

I bought some crackers. They were on sale for $0.99. Now I know why. They smell like playdough and taste like what I imagine ass would taste like.

So, I just applied for an internship...that's actually the first thing I've applied for in the entire time I've been worrying about what to do after graduation. But that's just my problem...I want a job lined up, but I don't know what I want to do. My mom asked "well, don't you know what kind of jobs you can apply for with your degree?" And my answer is, "I know...I just don't want THOSE jobs." So, did I pick the wrong major?? Yes. And I knew it within like 3 months of picking it, but it was too late to go back. And I'm even thinking Commerce wasn't even the best idea. But I don't think I'll ever regret my commerce degree...it's helpful. I'll be a lot richer than I would have been without my degree.

So yeah, I've started working on some internship applications. Also, I checked out some of the crowns, but none of them have good openings right now. Plus, I don't need a job until July and most of the openings are for much sooner than that.

I'm watching a Bailey's commercial. I'm going to have to try that whole "dipping a burning marshmallow in a glass of Bailey's and then eating it" thing. Might be good.

Anyway, not too much to say. Just felt like I needed to update.

Composite Board

So, the composite board with the pictures of the 2006 Commerce graduates is now displayed in the Commerce building...and I am on it!! Whooo!! So, whether or not I graduate this June (and I will) people will at the minimum THINK that I graduated in 2006. Awesome. I am enshrined in the Commerce building forever.

Stuffy Stuff

OK...Ross had a fantasy about Princess Leia and Rachel acted it out. And if you have never seen or heard of this episode of Friends, you've been living in a box.

And yes...when I said I'm looking for the person who is Most Jedi...I really meant it. You need to know EVERYTHING about Star Wars.

Also, I would like to mention that every one of you guys (except Nitro of course...hopefully) has had a fantasy about Leia in that golden bikini. So it's totally relevant!

Who's the Most Jedi? Pt. 2

OK, here we go again!

Which Friend had a fantasy about Princess Leia and which Friend acted it out?

My Arms are Tired

So, I've been getting back into swimming. Yesterday AND today I swam 1600 metres in only 50 minutes!! For those of you who don't know...that's 64 laps! An average of 1.28 laps per minute. Give or take a little. I plan on going tomorrow too. I think I should be able to go Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. My schedule just doesn't allow me to go any other times.

Wow, this Star Wars thing is crazy!! Seriously people. It's a fun game. I'm not going to change the rules or anything...I know you suggested stuff, but I want this to be fun. Seriously, the answer to that question was "yes", but I gave everyone a point because of the most excellent explainations.

And yes, I'm not a huge Star Wars fan. But one of you can't be the person doing this, you need to compete!! I have resources to get harder and harder questions, so don't worry about that.

Anyway, expect the next question tomorrow or the next day.

Who's The Most Jedi?

So, I was reading through past posts and realized that there's a pretty good argument going around about who's the biggest Star Wars nut. So, I've decided to start a new feature called "Who's The Most Jedi?" Basically, I will periodically post a Star Wars related question and you guys have to answer it. I will keep a tally of correct answers on the side until someone emerges the winner. So, to start it off, here' s an easy question, I hope I don't insult anyone with its easiness:

Is Darth Vader actually Luke's father?

Pilot Update

Just a quick update for all of you in blogger land:

Jeremy's surgery went very well. He goes to see his doctor in the morning and then will be on his way home! He checked in at noonish and had his surgery at 3pm and was out of there by 3:30.

He only cried twice.

So, if you want to support him, buy him a pirate's patch to go over his eye.

Just figured you'd maybe like an update since it'll be a little while until he gets on his computer again.

Not My Amazing Post

OK, the amazing post will be coming soon, but not today. I just have other stuff to talk about today.

So, about the whole insulting people thing. What I do, is I have another blog that none of you know about and none of you know where it is. That's where I get my emotions out and that's where I insult you.

Anyway. The reason I put this post first is because there's been something going on at the U of S that has hit the media, so I figured you'd all want to know about it. If you haven't heard about it, go here.

So yeah, this is about our own CARTOON CONTROVERSY!!!! So, the Sheaf published a cartoon that was deemed offensive to some people. I received an e-mail from the President of the university, Peter McKinnon. Here's what it said:

I feel I must publicly communicate with our campus community on what I have just seen in the student newspaper.

In the February 23 edition of the Sheaf, the editors explained that they would not publisk the controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. It is surprising that they did not excercise similar restraint in their decision to publish "Capitalist Piglet" in the March 2 issue of the paper. This is a cartoon that is certain to cause distress to members of our community. It has divisive shock value only and does nothing to advance the understanding or debate for which universities should be distinguished.

The Sheaf should apologize to us all.

Peter MacKinnon
President

Now, I read this cartoon when it came out, and I have to admit...I laughed at it. I didn't find it offensive, but I don't get offended too easily. Anyway, maybe I'm making things worse, but here's the cartoon:

(Just click on it to see the larger view)
So, as you can see, 3 of the 4 comics could be taken as offensive by followers of Christianity.

So anyway, the new Sheaf came out today. They issued a public apology and the editor-in-chief submitted his resignation.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most is this letter that appeared in this newest addition of The Sheaf:

The cartoons in this week's paper were disgusting. The content of your newspaper has been tasteless in the past, but this week's material was especially sad. Why would you even consider printing such disrespetful and potentially hurtful material? It's embarrassing to be featured in the same paper. I've talked to Kent about it and we no longer want to be published in your paper, unless White Ninja is featured in another section. Thanks for the years of press. Please consider getting some tact. -Scott Bevan
FUCK!!!!! Damn I love White Ninja. It was pretty much 99% of the reason why I even bother with the Sheaf. Thank-god White Ninja has a website and I can go there to read the comics. But fuck, Sheaf, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!!!!!

Swimming Again

So, I just went swimming with Joelle. We're going to go every Monday and Wednesday night from now on. I have an essay to write tonight, so I wanted to cancel, but I was like "no, that's just the first of a long string of excuses for not going." So, I went and it was a good break from essay-writing. Now, I still have like 13 pages of a 15 page paper to write and it's 10:15pm and it's due at 10AM. But whatever, it'll get done because I need it to be done.

Anyway, I have an awesome post coming up, I'm just working on it a bit, but you'll love it when it comes. Should be my next post. Just figured I'd throw up an update before I get started on finishing this essay.

New Blog

So, I found a new blog to read that I LOVE. It's called Waiter Rant. It's a guy who works as a waiter in a New York restaurant. He blogs about his customers and it's hilarious. Anyone who's even worked in the service industry knows exactly what he's talking about. Anyway, check out Waiter Rant.

So, I'm 4 months away from graduating and have still made no decision about where to go next. I'm attending some sessions put on by DISOrientation this coming week. It's for people graduating and gives you some information about what to do next. The week after that I'm attending a wine and cheese formal put on by BDC...Development Bank of Canada to see what kind of careers they offer. So, I'm hoping something will come of these things.

Anyway, I've gotta go to bed because I just got home from work and have to be back there in 8 hours. Have a good one!

Something Interesting

This is Canaan Banana. Former President of Zimbabwe. The first one actually.

If I had married him, my name would be Shanna Banana.

Good thing I didn't though, because he was found guilty of 11 counts of sodomy.

Also interesting, he became President in 1980. In 1982 a law was passed forbidding poeple to make fun of his name.

But my chance has passed as he died 3 years ago. Darn.

I'm a Martyr

That's right. Check out the article in the Carillon in which I'm mentioned:

Steve's Comments in the Carillon

My sacrifices are finally being noticed!! Yes!!
